Bodily Injury Liability (State requirement)
This coverage protects you in the situation that you are found responsible
for an accident that resulted in injuries to third parties. This coverage
will pay for those injuries and legal representation of subsequent
lawsuits up to your coverage amount. Due to the increased number of
lawsuits and amount of judgments, it is very important to have ample
coverage so to minimize your personal exposure.
Property Damage Liability (State requirement)
This coverage works the same way as Bodily Injury in that it protects
you from any damage you may have caused to another parties property.
This may include another individual's car, light post and other physical
property that may have been damaged in an accident that you were found
to be at fault for.
Uninsured & Underinsured Motorist Bodily Injury Coverage (UIMBI)
Uninsured and Underinsured Motorist Bodily Injury coverage is a very
important coverage to have. In the event another motorist that may
be uninsured or just not have ample coverage seriously injures you,
you are left with the immediate need to seek medical assistance and
possible long-term recuperation. This coverage will take care of these
expenses, again up to your limits, in the event the guilty party is
not financially able to.
Uninsured & Underinsured Motorist Property Damage Coverage
(UIMPD)
This coverage does the same thing as UIMBI except for your vehicle.
This coverage also protects against hit and runs with a small deducible.
Personal Injury Protection (PIP)
There are two levels of this protection, one for $10,000 and the other
for $35,000. This coverage first and foremost compensates you for
medical costs incurred in an accident. A nice additional feature to
this is payments of last wages and an allowance for services, such
as mowing the lawn, to be provided in the event you are unable to
do them yourself.
Collision
This coverage protects your car in the event you collide with another
vehicle or object. With this coverage you decide a deductible, which
is the portion you will be responsible for in repairing or replacing
your vehicle.
Comprehensive
Comprehensive can be summed up as any damage to your vehicle that
was not considered a collision loss. For example, these losses can
be a result of fire, theft or storm damage. You choose a deducible
amount for this coverage as well.
